Shahzeb Khan murder case update – Bail Plea Approved

KARACHI: The session court (South) on Saturday approved the bail of Shahrukh Jatoi and three other defendants in the Shahzeb Khan murder case. 

The court ordered the defendants to submit surety bonds of Rs 0.5 million each, following which the court will issue the release order of the accused. 

Shahzeb Khan was gunned around the child of a powerful medieval in an elegant area of Karachi. An ATC in 2013 had granted capital punishments to Shahrukh Jatoi and Siraj Talpur for the murder of Shahzeb, while life sentences were granted to Sajjad Ali Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari.Aurangzeb Khan expressed in his oath that with the assent of his relatives, he has achieved a trade off with the group of the convicts and has exculpated the murder of his child for the sake of God, thus he has no protest on the safeguard request of convicts.The court has declared to give its choice on the safeguard request of convicts today.Points of interest of absolve understandingAs per the points of interest of the absolve understanding between the convicts, Shahzeb Khan’s family were paid Rs 270 million.Sources educated Geo News that as a feature of the understanding, the expired’s family were given a 500-square-yard house in the Defense neighborhood of Karachi, while his dad was given a condo in Australia.

US to watch Pakistan’s choices over new Afghan policy:Jim Ma

he US will “watch” Pakistan’s choices on President Donald Trump’s new Afghan and South Asia strategy to combat terrorism in its tracks, Defence Secretary Jim Mattis has said.

At the same time, Mattis also lauded India’s commitment towards the development in Afghanistan.

Trump, while announcing the new strategy for Afghanistan, had accused Pakistan of harbouring “agents of chaos” and providing safe havens to militant groups waging an insurgency against the US-backed government in Kabul.

Pakistan has opposed Trump’s Afghan and South Asia policy, saying it ignored the country’s sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

But, Mattis during a visit to Kabul said the new strategy was “not exclusive of someone”.

It is inclusive for all responsible states that want to stop terrorism in its tracks and defend the innocent, he said.

This is primarily because for the first time, the United States seeks to hold Pakistan accountable for its support to terrorist groups and organisation.

Trump’s also policy seeks greater developmental role for India in this war-torn country.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg agreed with both Mattis and Ghani, saying that this is a regional approach, which includes both Pakistan and India.

Both of them have to be included in a mutual approach.

He urged all countries in the region to support an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.

Mattis said India has been “very, very generous” in its development assistance to Afghanistan.

6 killed as suicide bomber blows up near Shia mosque in Kabul

A suicide bomber posing as a shepherd blew himself up near a Shia mosque in Kabul on Friday killing at least six people, police said, as Muslims prepare to observe the holy month of Muharram

The attack in the north of the Afghan capital happened as worshipers were gathered inside Hussainia mosque, one of the biggest Shia centers in the city, for Friday prayers.

“A suicide bomber who was grazing sheep has detonated himself outside” the mosque, General Salim Almas, criminal investigative director of Kabul city

There was no immediate claim of responsibility but fighters belonging to the Taliban and the militant Islamic State (IS) group have repeatedly targeted the minority Shia community in recent years.

A shopkeeper told AFP that the suicide bomber blew himself to bits after he was identified by suspicious civilian guards who had set up a checkpoint about 200 meters from the mosque.

Afghanistan has trained and armed more than 400 civilians to help protect Shia mosques during the holy month.

Transgender people Attacked In Karachi-Police Investigates surveillance camera footage

Pakistani police say armed men opened fire on a group of transgender people, killing one, in an affluent neighbourhood in Pakistan’s city of Karachi.

Aurangzeb Khattak, a police officer, said the shooting occurred overnight on Wednesday. He said passengers in a 4WD vehicle first harassed the group by throwing rotten eggs at them and then opened fire, resulting in the death of Chanda Sharmeeli.

Khattak said shell casings from a 9mm pistol were found at the scene and that investigators were using surveillance camera footage to trace the 4WD vehicle and arrest the culprits.

Kami Sid, the country’s first transgender model and a fellow of Sharmeeli, told Al Jazeera that the men in the car were “drunk” and forced the murdered person to sit in the car with them.

Transgender people are known as Khusra or Hijra in Pakistan. In conservative South Asia, where sexual relations outside marriage are taboo and homosexuality is illegal, they are often treated as sex objects and often become the victims of violent assault.

Last week, provisional results from Pakistan’s census showed that at least 10,418 people identified themselves as transgender in the country’s first official population count since 1998.

According to a government health ministry estimate made in 2015, however, that number is closer to at least 150,000.

“Most transgenders can’t even file police reports because they don’t have identification, and when they go to police stations they are teased ridiculed.”

In June, the country issued its first third-gender passport to a transgender activist from the northern city of Peshawar.

In 2009, Pakistan became one of the first countries in the world to legally recognise a third gender, allowing those identifying as neither male nor female to obtain national identity documents.
